Casting Call for Mistress of Mesopotamia!
Writer/Director Lauand Omar is looking for Actors/Talent/Musicians for his second Movie, the Horror Flick "Mistress of Mesopotamia" and his newly launched MidEast Talents/Casting Agency.
Like his first feature, the award winning Drama "Bekhal's Tears", it will be shot in Iraqi Kurdistan.
"Mistress of Mesopotamia" is based on an old Kurdish Legend and Lauand Omar is looking for Kurdish (Kurmangi) and English speaking Actors.
The Soundtrack of the Movie will play a big part, it will be a mixture of traditional Kurdish Music, modern western beats, rock, and Hip Hop. I'm sure there are many talented musicians out there who would be interested in exposing their work in a movie. The filming will be late summer, and anyone interested should send their headshots and CV's to [email protected] . Actors please include the character's name you would like to audition for. Several Audition dates across Europe and Istanbul are planned for mid July, the chosen ones will be contacted with more details soon and/or put on file for future Film and TV work. "

- Shilan, Female, 19-24, Kurdish speaking, little English required, must be able to play shy one minute and though the other
- Kawa, Male, 20-25, Kurdish/English speaking, Handsome, well spoken
- Uncle Jango, 50 – 60, Kurdish speaking, (serious, mysterious)
- Cop, mid 30's, Kurdish/English/Arabic speaking, tough, serious, with a soft side
- Dalia, 19-24, Kurdish speaking, Kurdish beauty, wild one, not shy to do Love scenes
- Awaz, early 40's, Kurdish/English speaking, the caring Mother

“Al-Anfal” is the title of the eighth sura of the Koran, which tells how the bounty which the Muslims took in the war against the unbelieving should be divided among his followers. It is also the name given by Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein to the war he authorized his cousin to wage on the Kurdish people. The film brings light to this forgotten war, waged in the years 1988 to 1991 and gives voice to its victims.

Filmfestival Koerden: een Volk zonder Land Op de internationale filmfestivals in Europa mag de Koerdische cinema zich in een groeiende belangstelling verheugen. Terecht, zo bewijst het Koerdisch filmfestival dat het Tropentheater in februari presenteert! De Koerdische bevolking is over een groot aantal landen verdeeld – denk aan Turkije, Irak, Iran, Syrië, Azerbeidzjan, Armenië et cetera – en dat geldt inmiddels ook voor haar cinema. Bestond deze voorheen nog voornamelijk uit films van naar Duitsland en Engeland gevluchte Koerden, tegenwoordig worden er ook veel films in de genoemde landen zelf geproduceerd. Het filmfestival ‘Koerden: een Volk zonder Land’ laat van dit alles een dwarsdoorsnede zien. Centraal in de films staan thema’s als de situatie in Koerdistan, politieke vluchtelingen, het aanpassen aan een nieuwe leefomgeving en de toekomstperspectieven van Koerden.
